The Lowdown
The Arkansas Marathon is one of the oldest marathons in the South, hosted by the South Logan County Chamber of Commerce in Booneville. The out-and-back course follows Arkansas Highway 23 along the northern edge of the Ouachita National Forest, with rolling hills including Walker Mountain and aid stations about every mile. The field is small and the roads are open state highway, not a closed course. The finish sits inside the October Daze fall festival, and every finisher gets a custom medal designed by local high school art students. The race also offers a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K, and the course is a USATF-certified Boston qualifier.
