The Lowdown
Båstad Marathon is run on the Bjäre peninsula in Skåne, in early July around the summer solstice, and starts and finishes at the beach promenade in Båstad. The course leaves Båstad town, climbs through the Sinarpsdalen valley past Grevie to its highest point, then descends gently to Torekov at halfway. From Torekov it follows a nature reserve along the sea for about 7 km, climbs near Hovs Hallar (the toughest section) and returns along the coast to Båstad, with freshly baked waffles at the Kattvik aid station. There are 14 aid stations about 3 km apart, mostly asphalt, 310 m of climbing and a 6.5-hour time limit, and every finisher gets a useful keepsake plus a medal. A half marathon starts in Torekov and finishes in Båstad.
