The Lowdown

The Mariestads Marathon is a small late-August race organized by Mariestads AIF along the shore of Lake Vänern in Mariestad. It offers a marathon, a half marathon and a 7 km fun run, all starting at the Snapen outdoor recreation area at 10:00 on a Saturday. The marathon is an out-and-back course, chip-timed, with a 6-hour limit and refreshments every 3.5 km of sports drink, cola and water. Every finisher receives a medal, and the organizers describe the course as fully measured. The 2026 edition drew 128 participants across the three distances.
