Carney 10K & Sligo Half Marathon

The Carney 10K & Sligo Half Marathon is an Easter Monday tradition in the coastal village of Carney, County Sligo, on Ireland's northwest coast. Organized by the Oxfield Community Centre and Carney Tidy Towns, the event has run annually since the mid-2000s and added its Half Marathon distance in 2022. Both the 10K and the Half Marathon are AAI-measured and chip-timed. The 10K follows a looped course starting just outside Carney Village, while the Half Marathon continues further along the coast toward Raghly Harbour before returning to the village finish. A 10K walk shares the Half Marathon's start. The route crosses rolling coastal roads with views over Sligo Bay toward Benbulben. Half Marathon finishers receive a customised medal and T-shirt; 10K finishers receive a T-shirt while stock lasts. Entry is capped and awarded first come, first served, with no refunds after registering. All proceeds support local County Sligo community groups and charities, the cause that has kept the race running since it began.
