The Lowdown

Carrera de la Independencia is a long-running September road race in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, also known as the Carrera de la Independencia Ahome. The 64th edition was held on September 13, 2026, with 3K, 6K and 12K distances starting at 6:30 AM from the Palacio Municipal esplanade. Roughly 400 athletes took part, and children's races of 50 and 70 meters are run alongside. The 2027 date is projected from the second-Sunday-of-September pattern and the official 2027 date has not been announced. The 2026 entry fee was 450 pesos for the competitive categories and free for children.
