Carrera IPN Once K (11K)
The Lowdown
Carrera IPN Once K (11K) is the flagship 11-kilometer distance of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional's annual Once K road race, held on the streets of Ciudad de México each spring since 2008. Organized by the IPN, Canal Once, and the Patronato Corazón Guinda y Blanco, the event is part of a nationwide celebration that in 2026 drew roughly 30,000 runners across Mexico City and 18 other host cities nationwide, run under the theme "Un legado en movimiento" for the Institute's 90th anniversary. The 11K starts near the Canal Once headquarters in the Santo Tomás neighborhood and finishes at Estadio Wilfrido Massieu on the IPN's Zacatenco campus in Gustavo A. Madero, sharing its start and finish area with sister 5K and Half Marathon distances. The course sits at roughly 2,240 meters of altitude, which matters more for pacing than its modest street-level elevation changes. The 2026 edition (the 17th) sold out its 11K field of about 8,000 runners; the next edition is projected for the last Sunday of May, pending official confirmation from IPN and Canal Once.
