Maratón Puebla is one of central Mexico's premier fall marathons, organized in the city of Puebla with the start and finish at the Zócalo in the Centro Histórico. Held on the last Sunday of November, it draws elite athletes, national competitors and recreational runners, and offers Maratón (42.195 km), Medio Maratón (21 km), 10 km and 5 km distances. The course showcases Puebla's colonial heritage—cobblestone streets and wide plazas of the historic center, ornate churches and the Catedral de Puebla—before opening onto broad boulevards with views of the Puebla valley and, on clear days, the Popocatépetl volcano. Run at high altitude (Puebla sits above 2,100 m), the marathon rewards steady pacing and acclimatization. The atmosphere is distinctly Mexican, with lively bands, mariachis, enthusiastic neighborhood crowds, and aid stations offering water, sports drink and local snacks. The race is supported by state and municipal authorities, with chip timing, certified courses and dependable race-day logistics.
