The Lowdown

The Gran Maratón Pacífico Mazatlán is the annual marathon weekend of Mazatlán, the Pacific-coast resort city in the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa, staged along the city's oceanfront malecón boulevard and organized by the Venados de Mazatlán sports club. The 2026 edition — its 25th (XXV), marketed locally as the Gran Maratón HERSA Mazatlán 2026 under this year's title sponsor, HERSA Corporativo — runs December 4-6, 2026: sports-expo kit pickup on Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th at Estadio Teodoro Mariscal, a 5K and 10K race on Saturday evening, and the half marathon (21K) and full marathon (42K) on Sunday, December 6, starting between 6:00 and 6:20 a.m. on Av. Leonismo Internacional in front of the City Forest entrance and finishing at Teodoro Mariscal Stadium. All four distances are certified by AIMS, World Athletics, and the Federación Mexicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo (FMAA). Ranked among Mexico's top three and the world's top ten marathons for three consecutive years, the race has drawn runners from as many as 18 countries and 30 Mexican states; organizers expect roughly 8,000 participants in 2026, up from about 7,000 the year before, with a combined prize purse of 534,000 pesos and live broadcast coverage from Televisoras Grupo Pacífico. City officials project more than 30,000 visitors and over 155 million pesos in economic impact from race weekend. The 2026 edition also closes out a 25-year collectible finisher-medal series. The race's title sponsor has rotated in past editions — Chevron backed the event through 2025, briefly alongside Skechers in 2024 — with HERSA Corporativo taking over as the 2026 presenting sponsor. Registration is open online through Emoción Deportiva and Boleto Móvil, and in person at Martí Sports stores and the Estadio Teodoro Mariscal offices.
