Catania Marathon
The Lowdown
The Catania Marathon (currently title-sponsored as the Naturosa Catania Marathon, after citrus-products brand Naturosa of the Val di Noto AOP group) is Sicily's seaside marathon, run every December along Catania's Ionian coastline. Now in its seventh edition (2026), the FIDAL-sanctioned, Bronze-classified race is organized by A.S.D. Atletica Sicilia and offers three distances — the 42.195 km marathon, a 21.0975 km half marathon, and a 10.5 km race — all starting together at 09:00 from Viale Kennedy, near Lido Verde on the Playa di Catania beachfront. The course is pancake-flat, running the length of the shoreline promenade with Mount Etna visible in the distance, and is largely closed to traffic for race day. The marathon carries a 6-hour cutoff, with the closing awards ceremony around 12:45. The 2024 edition drew more than 1,000 finishers across the three races, with runners from roughly 30 countries. Registration is handled exclusively through the ENDU platform, with entry fees rising in scheduled tiers as race day (13 December 2026) approaches.
