The Lowdown

The Course des Pompiers de Laval is an annual road race organized by the City of Laval's fire safety service, the Laval firefighters, and the Fondation des pompiers du Québec. Runners choose from six distances - 1 km, 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km, a half marathon, and the full 42.2 km marathon - on a flat, fast, Boston-Qualifier-eligible course that starts and finishes at Collège Montmorency on Boulevard de l'Avenir in Laval, Quebec, on the north shore of Montreal. Firefighters cheer runners along the route and greet them with high-fives at the finish line. First held in 2012, the event has grown into one of Quebec's largest running festivals: the 2026 edition drew more than 12,000 participants and raised over $100,000 CAD for the Fondation des pompiers du Québec, which supports burn victims and their families. Every finisher receives a personalized bib and a medal, and runners in the 5 km and longer distances also get an official event t-shirt.
