The Lowdown
The Franklin Park Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving 5K organized by Franklin Park Coalition in Boston. The race starts at 9 a.m. at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse and follows a loop around the golf course, with the start and finish near the clubhouse. It brings together neighbors from Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain and Mattapan, and has sold out before race day in each of the previous five years. All ages and paces are welcome, including strollers, wheelchairs and race-ready leashed dogs. Children 5 and under take part free without registering. Awards recognize overall and age-group finishers, alongside costumes, the fastest dog and the fastest stroller. Race-day number pickup begins at 7:30 a.m. ; early pickup dates are still to be announced. The organizer warns that some path surfaces can be uneven or slippery, and no bag check is provided.
