The Lowdown
The Gmünder Stadtlauf is a March road-running day in Schwäbisch Gmünd, east of Stuttgart, organized by DJK SG Schwäbisch Gmünd. Its half marathon, run as the Widmann-Cup, starts at 14:00 at the Großsporthalle. The course is flat to slightly rolling asphalt, an out-and-back along the Rems into the Haselbachtal with the turnaround at the Maierhofer Sägemühle, electronically timed. The finish closes at 16:30 and the award ceremony follows at 17:00. The top three men and women win prizes, and the three fastest runners of a club score for a team prize. The field is capped at 440 runners, and the 2026 edition sold out. A 10 km run, a 5 km run, a 2 x 5 km team relay and children's runs share the day. Changing rooms and showers are in the Großsporthalle, and the railway station is about five minutes away on foot.
