The Lowdown

The Heidelberger Halbmarathon is the half marathon of TSG 78 Heidelberg, held each spring on a Sunday in late April and run as the ATOS Halbmarathon. The 21.1 km course leaves Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage, crosses the Alte Brücke into Neuenheim, climbs along the Philosophenweg to Ziegelhausen, then returns through Schlierbach past the castle and the Kornmarkt to finish at Universitätsplatz. It is a hilly route with about 350 meters of elevation gain, and runners start in four groups at five-minute intervals from 9:15. The 2026 edition on 26 April ended with 3,768 finishers; Pierre-Emmanuel Alexandre won in 1:11:13. Entries sell out, so register as soon as the 2027 window opens. The date shown is the expected last Sunday of April; the organizers have not yet published 2027 details.

Minimum Age: 16 years
Entry Methods: Registration is online only, through the event website.
Eligibility: Half marathon runners must be born in 2010 or earlier.
No baby joggers and no music headphones are allowed on the course.
Required Documents: Bring the confirmation email showing your start number and VRN ticket to collect your race packet.
Runners using someone else's start number bring that person's written consent to the transfer.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Entries cannot be cancelled once the bank direct debit has been taken.
You can sell your start number to another runner; the name change at the Meldekorrektur desk costs €5.
