Karachi Marathon
The Lowdown
The Karachi Marathon is Pakistan's first World Athletics-certified marathon, held along the city's Sea View seafront. The flat, scenic course starts and finishes at Nishan-e-Pakistan on Sea View Road, heading east past the Clock Tower onto Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue and Do Darya Road, with a turnaround near the DHA Golf Club before returning to the finish. Alongside the full marathon, the event includes a half marathon, a marathon relay, and a 5K fun run, drawing thousands of runners each January. Now in its third year, the race has grown from a smaller commissioner-backed event into a nationally significant showcase for Karachi, with elite finishers earning prize money and support to represent Pakistan at international races such as the London Marathon. For the 2026 edition the event carried the BYD Karachi Marathon name under a new title-sponsorship partnership with BYD-Mega Motor Company, announced in November 2025; the title sponsor has changed in past editions, so this record uses the sponsor-neutral name.
