Kilmacolm Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Kilmacolm Half Marathon is the headline race of the Kilmacolm Running Festival, held each September in the village of Kilmacolm, Inverclyde, Scotland. Organized by Inverclyde Leisure alongside a 10K, a 3K, and a family Toddle Woddle, the half marathon starts and finishes at Birkmyre Park Fitness Gym. Runners follow an out-and-back tarmac route that quickly leaves the village to join a quiet cycle path along a former railway line, running gently downhill for the first half before returning gently uphill to the finish. Three water stations line the course, with marshals, first aid cover, and a chip-timed race number for every entrant. The event has grown steadily in popularity and describes itself as one of Inverclyde's biggest participation events. Minimum age for the half marathon is 16, and dogs and bicycles are not permitted on the course. Online entry costs £32.00 and closes on 19 August 2026 ahead of the 13 September 2026 race day, though limited on-the-day registration is also available.
