The Lowdown

Klarälvsloppet Run 21K is a half marathon from Forshaga to Karlstad, part of the Klarälvsloppet multi-sport weekend in Värmland. The course follows the paved, car-free Klarälvsbanan railway embankment through forest and open countryside, gently downhill with no steep climbs. It was measured by certified Swedish Athletics Federation measurers in May 2025. There are three aid stations with water and sports drink, and the time limit is 2 hours 45 minutes. A bus runs from Karlstad to the start in Forshaga. The 2026 edition was held on 19 September; the next edition is expected on the third Saturday of September 2027, with dates and prices to be confirmed.

Minimum Age: 11 years
Entry Methods: Register online until 13:00 on the Monday of race week.
On-site registration at the start costs an extra 100 SEK.
Eligibility: Runners must finish within the 2 hour 45 minute time limit.
Participants in the 21K must turn 11 during the calendar year.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Being unable to take part does not entitle a runner to a refund; the organizer points to insurance options such as Folksam.

01: Bus transport from Karlstad to the start costs 100 SEK for Run 21K participants.
02: Number pickup in 2026 ran from 09:00 to 10:00 at Forshaga Lärcenter.
03: The course runs on the Klarälvsbanan, a paved and car-free railway embankment.
04: The Run 21K is a recreational mass start, with post-race refreshments and medical support.
05: Aid stations at 6.9 km, 13.6 km and 18.9 km serve water and sports drink.
06: Every runner gets a personal timing chip worn on the foot, to be returned right after the finish.
