The Lowdown
The Lehigh Valley New Year's Chaser is a New Year's Day half marathon in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, organized by Elite Feats. The 2027 edition is on Friday, January 1, with the half marathon starting at 10:00 AM at Sand Island Park. The race is moving to Sand Island Park for 2027 and is part of the organizer's new Half Marathon Series. The half marathon is an out-and-back on the D&L Trail heading east from Sand Island, with a turnaround at mile 6.55 marked by signs, tape and orange cones. The course is very flat. A 5K, a 10K and a 5K and 10K combo run the same morning. Every registrant gets a T-shirt, a finisher's medal and ankle running socks, and first-time half marathon finishers also get a ceremonial plaque. Non-binary registration has its own overall and age-group awards, and service members and their families get a 10% discount.
