LSR Colombo Marathon
The Lowdown
The LSR Colombo Marathon is Sri Lanka's flagship distance-running event, first launched in 1998 as the LSR International Marathon in Galle and staged in Colombo since 2006. Organized by Lanka Sportreizen and a full AIMS member race, the 2026 edition marks its 20th running on 4 October 2026. The flat, coastal course starts and finishes near Colombo's Racecourse Grounds and passes historic city landmarks and the Indian Ocean shoreline, drawing thousands of local and international runners, including elite AIMS-affiliated fields. The event offers Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Veteran Full/Half, and 5K/10K Fun Run categories, plus free school fun-run categories for students aged 15-18. The race had a multi-year hiatus (cancelled 2021-2024 due to Sri Lanka's economic crisis and pandemic aftermath) before returning in 2025, and is now held annually each October.

LKR is not in the platform's currency enum, so this record uses the site's USD foreign-entrant pricing for the stored category prices.
