The Lowdown

The Macao International Marathon (title-sponsored as the Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon) is Macau's flagship AIMS/World Athletics-certified road race, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau. Start and finish are at the Macao Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Taipa, with the course crossing the bridges linking the islands -- including the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and the Sai Van Bridge -- and passing landmarks such as Macau Tower and the Cotai Strip before looping through the quieter residential streets of Taipa and Coloane. The event offers marathon, half marathon and mini marathon distances, drawing a mix of local Macau/Hong Kong runners and international travel-race entrants who combine the run with Macau's casino resort tourism.
