The Lowdown

The Magdeburger Silvesterlauf is the city's oldest public road run, held on New Year's Eve since 1975 and organized by Magdeburger LaufKultur 08 e.V. The 51st edition takes place on 31 December 2026 in the Stadtpark. The start is at the junction of Stadtparkstraße and Seilerweg, and the finish is at the Sportkomplex Seiler Wiesen. The 10 km is two laps of the 5 km loop, and the programme also includes a 1.5 km children's run and a 400 m run for the youngest. The 10 km starts at 10:30, the 5 km at 10:20. Timing is by chip, every finisher gets a medal, and tea, drinks and grilled food are served at the finish. Registration is online only and closes early if the 1,000-runner limit is reached. The 2025 edition drew more than 950 finishers.
