The Lowdown

The Nürnberger Silvesterlauf is a New Year's Eve race around the Wöhrder See in Nuremberg, organised by the sports club Team Klinikum Nürnberg e.V. The 23rd edition is on 31 December 2026. The 10 km Hauptlauf starts at 13:00 and covers two flat laps of the lake on asphalt, with about 28 m of climbing in total. A 5 km Hobbylauf at 11:30 runs one lap, and there are two children's runs in the morning. Both adult courses are measured and certified by DLV and AIMS, so times count for the official best lists. All races start and finish by Café Tante Noris at the Sebastianspital. The Hauptlauf is capped at 1,300 runners, and every finisher gets a medal. In the 10 km, teams of at least five runners entered under the same club or company name compete for the Gutmann Team Cup.

Entry Methods: Online registration through MAXX-Timing from 1 October 2026, closing 20 December 2026 at 23:59.
Late entry on 30 and 31 December through the MAXX-Timing late-entry link, paid on site by cash or card, only while places remain.
On 31 December, late entries close one hour before each start.
Eligibility: The 10 km Hauptlauf is open to runners born 2014 or earlier.
The 5 km Hobbylauf is open to runners born 2016 or earlier.
Participation requires being physically healthy.
Headphones are not allowed.
Required Documents: Bring the online registration confirmation to collect the bib.
Bibs can be collected by someone else on your behalf.
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Entry fees are not refunded, including for illness, injury or cancellation due to force majeure such as icy ground.
The bib is not transferable.

01: Organised by Team Klinikum Nürnberg e.V.; 50 cents of every entry fee goes to charity.
02: Placings and prizes use gross time; team scoring uses net time, with chip timing by MAXX-Timing.
03: The top three women and top three men in the 10 km and 5 km win prizes; there are no age-group awards.
04: Gutmann Team Cup: teams of five or more in the 10 km, scored on their five best finishers, in a mixed ranking.
05: Nordic walking poles and baby joggers are allowed in the 5 km but not in the 10 km.
06: Water, tea and broth are free in the finish area; changing rooms are available but there are no showers.
07: Children's runs start at 10:30 (400 m) and 10:45 (1,600 m); the 10 km awards ceremony is at 14:30.
