Berliner Frauenlauf
The Lowdown
The Berliner Frauenlauf (known in English as the Berlin Women's Race, currently branded VITAMIN WELL Frauenlauf Berlin) is Germany's largest charity run for women, held every May in the Tiergarten between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column. Founded in 1984 as the AVON Frauenlauf, the event has carried several title sponsors over four decades while keeping its charitable mission: one euro from every entry fee goes to the Berliner Krebsgesellschaft (Berlin Cancer Society) to support women affected by breast cancer. Organized by SCC Events, the same team behind the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, the race draws more than 10,000 women and girls each year across a flat, fully paved out-and-back course along Straße des 17. Juni. Runners can choose a timed 5K or 10K, while non-competitive participants can walk or Nordic-walk either distance; youth and children's categories round out the program. Finishers receive an event shirt and medal, and results are published online after the race.
