Manila Marathon
The Lowdown
The Manila Marathon is the Philippines' premier road marathon and the flagship event of the country's running calendar, organized by RunRio Inc. in partnership with SM Supermalls. Held every June 12–13 over Philippine Independence Day weekend, the 2026 edition made history as the first major Philippine marathon to route runners along EDSA (Epifanio de los Santos Avenue), Metro Manila's iconic north–south highway, running from SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City north to SM North EDSA in Quezon City — a course traversing the heart of the metropolis past major commercial and transit hubs. The full marathon starts at 11 PM on June 12 (finishing in the early hours of June 13) to beat the tropical heat. The event draws approximately 25,000 participants across all distances. Times are AIMS-certified and valid for Boston Marathon qualification. The race is sanctioned by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) and World Athletics.
