Marathon Beneva de Québec
The Lowdown
The Marathon Beneva de Québec (formerly the SSQ Marathon de Québec, renamed after SSQ Assurance's 2023 rebrand to Beneva) is Québec City's marquee autumn road marathon, run as the anchor event of the multi-day Je Cours Qc festival organized by Gestev. The Athletics Canada-certified, Boston-qualifying course winds through the historic core of the UNESCO World Heritage city, crossing three boroughs and nine neighborhoods including Vieux-Québec (Old Quebec) within the city walls, the Plains of Abraham, Parliament Hill, the Old Port, Petit-Champlain, Montcalm, Saint-Roch, Limoilou and Saint-Sauveur. Runners take in the fall foliage and postcard views of Château Frontenac and the St. Lawrence River along a route billed as a condensed city tour paired with a genuine athletic challenge. The 2026-2027 edition will host the Québec 42.2 km provincial championships as part of the Coupe Québec Route. The full marathon and half marathon run on Sunday, with the 10K, 5K and kids' 2K held the previous Saturday as part of the same weekend festival.
