The Lowdown

The Marathon d'Amiens Métropole is a flat, bucolic road marathon through the Somme river valley in northern France, held alongside the 100 km de la Somme (the 2026 FFA France Championship for the distance) and a semi-marathon on the same October Saturday. Organized by the Amicale du Val de Somme, the 2026 edition runs on October 3, with the marathon starting at 2:30pm and carrying a 6-hour time limit. The out-and-back course follows the Somme towpath from Amiens toward Flixecourt (La Breilloire) and back, threading past the river's water meadows and small villages before returning to the finish at the Stade des Spartiates, with the start at the Parc du Grand Marais. The semi-marathon route takes in a short stadium lap before joining Samara, the region's noted prehistory park, via the towpath. Aid stations appear roughly every 5 km along all three courses, stocked with water, energy drinks, and fruit. The event carries FFA regional certification for the marathon and semi-marathon, with the 100 km holding national FFA certification. A four-person marathon relay is also offered for teams. Registration for the 2026 edition, run through the Klikego platform, closes September 27 at 11:59pm; capacity is capped at 600 marathon bibs and 1,200 semi-marathon bibs, with no on-site registration accepted.
