The Lowdown

The Marathon des Grands Crus is Dijon's flagship autumn road race, returning for its 7th edition on October 11, 2026 with a record 8,000 runners and skaters expected across the marathon, half marathon, and 10K. The course follows the legendary Route des Grands Crus through the heart of Burgundy's Côte-d'Or vineyards, closed entirely to traffic for the day, threading through storied wine villages including Chenôve, Marsannay-la-Côte, Couchey, Fixin, Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Vougeot before returning to the start/finish village at the Allées du Parc in Dijon. Runners tackle a modest 195 meters of elevation gain on the marathon (116 meters on the half marathon), with gourmet aid stations pouring local wine and Burgundian specialties along the route — a signature touch that has made the race a fixture of the region's autumn calendar. The event, organized by AM Sports, also fields a 23K roller-skating competition on the Saturday before race day. Marathon entries start at €49, the half marathon at €32, and the 10K at €20, with prices rising in tiers as bibs sell — the half marathon sold out by May in the 2025 edition. All finishers have a 6-hour time limit, and bib pickup runs Thursday and Friday at Décathlon Quétigny and through race weekend at the Allées du Parc start/finish village.
