Marathon International de Marrakech
The Lowdown
The Marathon International de Marrakech (officially: International Marathon of Marrakech) is one of Africa's most prestigious road marathons, held annually in late January under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. First run in 1987, the 2027 edition is the 37th. The flat, fast course winds past the city's 12th-century Almohad ramparts, the Menara gardens, and palm- and orange tree-lined boulevards — consistently ranked among the fastest marathon routes in the world. More than 15,000 runners from dozens of countries participate each year. The race also includes a Half Marathon starting at 09:15. Bib pickup takes place at Koutoubia Square during the two days before race day. The event is organised by Prêt à Partir (Orléans, France) with the Grand Atlas Association managing local runner registration.
