The Lowdown

The Marathon Touraine Loire Valley is an FFA National-labeled marathon through Tours, in the heart of France's Loire Valley wine country. Now in its 12th edition, the race starts at Quai Paul Bert and finishes at Place Anatole France in the historic city center, with a new 2026 course routing runners through the riverside district of Rochecorbon, the vineyard slopes of Vouvray, and Vernou-sur-Brenne before returning along the Loire. Held together with a 20K, a 10K, and a two-person Marathon Duo relay under the Running Loire Valley weekend, the full event now draws roughly 17,000 runners across all distances, with the marathon itself fielding around 2,000 finishers. The marathon carries a 6-hour time limit, with intermediate cutoffs at 21K (3 hours) and 30K (5 hours), and a separate wheelchair race starts at 7:55am. Long-time partner Harmonie Mutuelle, a supporter of the event for more than 15 years, became its title sponsor in January 2026, and the race is now marketed locally as the Harmonie Mutuelle Marathon 10-20K Tours; this record uses the race's long-established neutral name. Registration for the 2026 edition had not yet opened as of late August 2026, with launch-rate pricing historically starting around €55 (€50 for students, job seekers, and FFA license holders) before rising in later waves.
