Podgorica Marathon
The Lowdown
The Podgorica Marathon, currently raced as the NLB Podgorica Millennium Run under its title bank sponsor, is Montenegro's capital-city marathon. Runners start and finish at the Millennium Bridge over the Morača River, tracing a route that links the old core of Podgorica with newer districts including Bloka, Zagorič, Maslina, Donja Gorica, Zabjela, Ljubović and Stara Varoš, passing the ancient Doclea ruins along the way. Alongside the 42.2 km marathon, the event fields a half marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km, and a 5 km fun run, with the 10 km, half marathon, and marathon holding AIMS/World Athletics course certification. Race weekend includes bib pickup at Hard Rock Cafe Podgorica on the Friday and Saturday before the Sunday race, since day-of registration is not offered. The marathon carries a 6-hour time limit and a total prize fund shared across the longer distances.
