Queen City Marathon
The Lowdown
The Queen City Marathon is Saskatchewan's largest running weekend, held every September in Regina and organized by Run Regina - Queen City Marathon Inc. The 2026 edition, branded the GMS Queen City Marathon after title sponsor GMS (Sask Gaming's Gold Medal Sports lottery), runs September 11-13, with the marathon, half marathon, 10K, walk divisions, a wheelchair race, and a team relay all held on Sunday, September 13. The Athletics Canada-certified 42.2K course is a Boston Marathon qualifier and loops through Wascana Park, downtown Regina, and several of the city's older neighbourhoods before finishing at the Conexus Arts Centre, which also hosts race package pickup and the Wellness Expo & Runners Market on Friday and Saturday. The course is flat and fast, well suited to prairie running conditions. Demand has grown steadily: the marathon distance is sold out for 2026, though limited space remains in the half marathon, 10K, relay, and walk divisions. The weekend also includes a Friday-night 5K, a Saturday family 5K, and a kids' mini marathon, plus virtual race options that stay open into October for anyone who can't make it to Regina in person.
