The Lowdown

Rodeo Run is a 10K and 5K road race held in downtown Houston, Texas, each February as the kickoff event for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Presented by ConocoPhillips, the race has been a Houston tradition since 1988 and runs on the morning of the Downtown Rodeo Parade. The 10K starts at the corner of Walker and Bagby, climbs about a mile over the Elysian Viaduct north of downtown, and finishes on Allen Parkway near Eleanor Tinsley Park; the 5K stays flat along downtown streets. A wheelchair division starts first, followed by a fast-corral 5K/10K wave and then the main 10K field. Finishers receive a bib with a timing chip, a performance shirt, and a finisher medal, and the morning ends with a post-race party featuring food, live music, and Texas hospitality near Buffalo Bayou. Entry fees benefit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Educational Fund. The 2026 edition sold out; the 2027 race is set for February 27, 2027, with registration not yet open as of September 2026.
