The Lowdown

The Roon The Toon 10K is Kilmarnock's flagship community road race, starting and finishing at the Ayrshire Athletics Arena on Queens Drive. The fast, mainly flat course sends runners through the town centre and out toward the countryside near Caprington Castle before returning through Kilmarnock's one-way system to the finish. Organized by Kilmarnock Harriers in partnership with East Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire 360, and the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, the event draws more than 2,000 runners each year and is Scottish Athletics licensed under UK Athletics rules. Every finisher receives a T-shirt, a medal, a goody bag, a free ticket to a Kilmarnock FC home match, and the race's signature Roon the Toon Empire Biscuit. Race day also features a wheelchair and frame-running race plus a non-competitive Stroller Roll for prams, buggies, and non-racing wheelchairs. The prize fund tops £4,000, including a £150 bonus for breaking a course record. Runners without a charity of their own are encouraged to support Kilmarnock Harriers' partner charity, Ayrshire Cancer Support. The next edition is set for Sunday 13 June 2027.
