Scottish Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Scottish Half Marathon is a point-to-point road race in East Lothian, Scotland, starting at Meadowmill Sports Centre near Tranent and finishing on Musselburgh Racecourse, Scotland's oldest racecourse. The 13.1-mile course runs along the East Lothian Golf Coast, largely downhill for the first third and flat thereafter, making it a fast, PB-friendly route. More than 4,000 runners took part in the 2024 edition. The race starts at 11:00am with a strict 3-hour-15-minute cutoff enforced by a sweeper bus, and wheelchair/handcycle athletes are welcome provided they are self-propelled for the entire race. Finishers receive a wicking t-shirt, medal, keyring, and timing-chip results within 48 hours, with hydration and energy gels on route and free baggage transport to the finish. Entry to the 2027 edition (Sunday, August 15) opens from £45.75 for standard runners, with charity places also available through partner organizations. Entrants must be 17 or older on race day, and no official pacers are provided.
