The Gobbler Half Marathon is a Thanksgiving-week race held at Mereworth Farm in West Lexington, Kentucky, with a 10K and a 5K on the same morning. The half marathon is run mostly on paved roads (about 98 percent) through Bluegrass horse country, with 10 hydration stations. Every finisher gets a medal, and registrants receive a long-sleeved performance shirt while supplies last. Age group awards are given in 5-year divisions, and the race benefits New Vocations Racehorse Adoption, which is based at the farm. Dogs are not allowed because they could disturb the horses.
