The Lowdown

The Vitality London 10,000 is London Marathon Events' flagship mass-participation 10K, running through the heart of the city from The Mall to a finish outside Buckingham Palace. Runners pass Admiralty Arch, Trafalgar Square, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St Paul's Cathedral, the Bank of England, the Old Bailey, Somerset House, the Strand and the Embankment on a fast, flat closed-road course through the City of London and the West End. Founded in 2008 as the Bupa London 10,000, the race has run every year since and has carried Vitality's title sponsorship since 2016, reflecting the sponsor's focus on both mental and physical wellbeing. Long held each spring, the event shifted to a late-September date in 2023 to avoid a packed ceremonial calendar around the Coronation of King Charles III, and has stayed there since. Alongside age-group and elite fields, the race includes a wheelchair race and draws around 24,500 finishers each year, making it one of the largest 10Ks in the UK. It is one of several mass-participation events run by London Marathon Events, alongside the TCS London Marathon and the Big Half.
