Alameda 10-Miler
The Lowdown
The Alameda 10-Miler is an annual road race held each August on Alameda Island in the San Francisco Bay Area, starting and finishing at Crown Memorial Beach Park. Branded since the mid-2020s as the Cooper Teare Classic in partnership with Nike-sponsored Olympian Cooper Teare and the East Bay Regional Park District, the race has grown into one of the Bay Area's signature summer road races, drawing several hundred finishers to a flat, non-standard 16.1 km (10 mile) course that heads down Shoreline Drive, climbs Broadway around Alameda's scenic East End, drops down San Jose Avenue through the historic Gold Coast neighborhood of Victorian homes, and finishes along Grand Street and Otis Drive back at the park. A companion 8K and a Kids Run share the morning, with team scoring and USATF Pacific Association circuit points on offer for the 8K and cash prizes for the 10-Miler's top finishers. Finishers earn a commemorative "Wings" pin under the event's "Earn Your Wings" seagull theme, and the morning wraps with a post-race "Beers with Buddies" party on the park's grassy knoll. The course carries USATF certification (10-Miler: CA26003DT; 8K: CA26004DT). The event marked its sixth running in 2026; the next edition is expected in August 2027, with the exact date and registration details still to be announced.
