Battle of Clontarf 10 Mile
The Lowdown
The Battle of Clontarf 10 Mile is an annual road race staged entirely within St Anne's Park in Clontarf, on Dublin's northside coast, organized by Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club. Runners complete two laps of a route that starts and finishes near the top of the park's Main Avenue, taking in the Red Stables and the park's Victorian walled gardens before looping back through open parkland. The race doubles as the Leinster 10 Mile Championships, awarding medals to the top three men and women overall, and takes its name from the 1014 Battle of Clontarf, fought near the same coastline between the forces of Brian Boru and a Norse-Irish alliance. Traditionally held on Easter Monday, the 2026 edition was pushed to the August Bank Holiday Monday after essential tree works closed sections of the course through the spring; the race is expected to return to its usual Easter Monday date, though Raheny Shamrock has not yet confirmed the exact 2027 date. Entry is online only through EventMaster, with no race-day sign-up, and the 2026 edition drew 322 finishers.
