Raheny 5 Mile

The Raheny 5 Mile is Ireland's largest five-mile (8 km) road race, staged each January in the Dublin suburb of Raheny by Raheny Shamrock AC. The 2026 running, held on 25 January, was the race's 42nd edition and carried a World Athletics Bronze Label. Race HQ sits at Scoil Aine National School, with the course looping past All Saints Park along the James Larkin Road seafront and back through Watermill Road and All Saints Drive — a flat, fast route popular with club runners chasing a PR early in the season. The Raheny 5 Mile regularly sells out weeks ahead of race day: the 2026 edition closed to entries before 24 January, and transfers (a €5 fee) cut off the evening before. A juvenile race programme, covering five age groups up to a 1-mile distance, runs on the undercard, and every finisher takes home the race's traditional plaque. Baggage drop is available at Scoil Aine, and Dublin's DART (Howth-Malahide line) and Dublin Bus routes H1, H2 and H3 serve the venue. The event follows a consistent last-Sunday-in-January slot; the date below projects the 2027 edition forward from that pattern (25 January 2026, 29 January 2023), with registration expected to open in November 2026.
