The Lowdown

The Disney Princess Half Marathon is the headline race of runDisney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend, held every February at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. First run in 2009, the race has grown into one of the largest half marathons in the United States, drawing roughly 20,000 runners - about 90% of them women, with more than half completing their first half marathon - onto a 13.1-mile course that starts before sunrise outside EPCOT, loops through Magic Kingdom past Cinderella Castle on Main Street, U.S.A., and finishes back inside EPCOT's World Showcase. The full weekend also includes a Disney Princess 5K, a Disney Princess 10K, a Disney Fairy Tale Challenge combining the 10K and half marathon, and a yoga session, each themed around a different Disney princess, with character photo stops and live entertainment along the route. RunDisney enforces a 16-minute-per-mile pace requirement on the half marathon and 10K to stay ahead of course reopenings. The 2027 Disney Princess Half Marathon is set for Sunday, February 28, 2027 with a 5:00 AM ET start; general registration opened June 8, 2026 (after a one-week technical delay) and the event sold out within days.

Founded in 2009 with about 11,000 runners in the inaugural race; has grown to roughly 20,000 participants, with women historically making up 90%+ of the field and over half running their first half marathon.

Each day of the weekend is themed around a different Disney Princess/character (recent editions featured Merida for the 5K, Moana for the 10K, and Rapunzel for the half marathon); themes rotate by year.

2027 general registration was originally scheduled for June 2, 2026 but delayed a week to June 8, 2026 after runDisney reported technical issues with its registration system; the race sold out shortly after opening.

runDisney enforces a 16-minute-per-mile course pace requirement (about 3.5 hours) for the half marathon and 10K distances.
