The Lowdown

The Maraton Imperial de Toledo is the inaugural marathon for Toledo, the walled former capital of Spain and a UNESCO World Heritage city in Castilla-La Mancha. Organized with backing from the Ayuntamiento de Toledo, the Diputacion de Toledo, and the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, the first edition runs on Sunday, November 15, 2026. The 42.195 km course starts at the Valle viewpoint above the Tagus gorge, crosses the Santa Barbara roundabout, Santa Maria de Benquerencia, the AVE train station, and Adolfo Suarez avenue, then finishes along the Paseo Imperial de la Vega beneath the historic Alcazar and Cathedral. Runners can enter the full marathon solo, split it as a two-person relay of 21.1 km each, or run it as a four-person Ekiden team of roughly 10.5 km legs. The race caps entries at 5,000 bibs across all three formats, offers pacers from 2:45 to 4:00, and stations aid at nine points along the route. Prize money reaches 2,000 EUR for the overall winners, with bonus payouts for sub-2:20 men and sub-2:45 women.

Cancellation & Refund Policy: 75% refund for injury withdrawal requests made by September 1, 2026
50% refund for injury withdrawal requests made between September 1 and November 1, 2026
€5 processing fee deducted from any refund
Pregnancy withdrawals accepted with a medical certificate

05: Athletes with disabilities receive a 50% registration discount
06: Course certified (homologado) by the Castilla-La Mancha Athletics Federation (FACLM), a regional affiliate of the RFEA (Spain's national athletics federation)
