The Maratón Murcia Costa Cálida is the marathon anchoring Murcia's biggest running weekend, drawing thousands of runners to the historic capital of Spain's Región de Murcia in the country's southeast. Currently known as the TotalEnergies Maratón Murcia Costa Cálida under its title sponsorship, the race carries a World Athletics Label and is certified by the Real Federación Española de Atletismo (RFA), the regional FAMU federation, and AIMS, so finish times count for records and for qualifying standards such as Boston. The 42.195 km course is flat and fast, running through Murcia's urban core past the city's historic monuments before finishing near the Murcia Cathedral, a festive gathering point for runners and spectators. Registration for the marathon and half marathon opens about a year in advance and closes days before race weekend; a Marathon Kids race for children also runs alongside the adult distances, though the event dropped its 10K in the 2027 edition for logistics and safety reasons. The 2027 race, the event's 14th edition, is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2027, and organizers expect more than 10,000 runners from Spain and abroad.
