The Lowdown

The Maratón Rover México a Cuernavaca is Mexico's oldest marathon, founded in 1955 by Scout Group 7 and organized today by Grupo Scout 11 Santa Mónica under the Solo Para Salvajes banner. The 2026 edition, marking 70 years since the race's founding, runs point-to-point on Sunday, October 11, starting at 7:00 AM at the Monumento al Caminero in Tlalpan, Mexico City (2,300 m), and finishing 42 kilometers later at the Estadio Centenario in Cuernavaca, Morelos (1,830 m). A shorter 31-kilometer option finishes at the Tres Marías highway landmark. The rugged mountain course climbs to 3,460 meters at Volcán El Pelado before descending through forests and trails into Morelos, making it one of Mexico's most physically demanding point-to-point races. Registration includes a bib number, commemorative shirt, finisher medal, certificate, aid stations, and awards-ceremony access, with separate Scout categories capped at age 23.
