Maratona di Reggio Emilia Città del Tricolore
The Lowdown
The Maratona di Reggio Emilia Città del Tricolore is a FIDAL-certified marathon held every December in Reggio Emilia (formally Reggio nell'Emilia), the Emilia-Romagna city credited as the birthplace of the Italian tricolor flag. Organized by Tricolore Sport Marathon, the 30th edition takes place on December 13, 2026, starting and finishing along Corso Garibaldi in the historic center before the 42.195 km route heads out into the surrounding countryside toward Montecavolo and back. A companion Mezza Maratona del Tricolore starts later near Montecavolo and joins the marathon course for its final stretch, with shuttle buses running from race headquarters at PalaBigi. The 2025 edition drew roughly 3,500 finishers across both distances. Corso Garibaldi closes to traffic from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon to accommodate the course, and race weekend includes an expo and packet pickup at PalaBigi.
