Portofino Marathon
The Lowdown
The Portofino Marathon is a point-to-point marathon along Italy's Liguria coast, starting in Rapallo and finishing in the seafront gardens of Santa Margherita Ligure. The 42.195 km route threads twice through the postcard harbor of Portofino, passing the Abbazia della Cervara and the turquoise Baia di Paraggi, on a flat-to-rolling course with modest cumulative climbing. Organized by Atletica Due Perle, the race anchors a late-January weekend on the Tigullio coast that also includes the Portofino Run 10K and the CorriSanta Family Run. Runners have six hours to finish, and the modest field size keeps the narrow coastal road manageable. The event grew out of the long-running Mezza Maratona delle Due Perle half marathon, adding a full-distance option starting with its debut edition in February 2025.
