Medio Maratón de la Costa
The Lowdown
Medio Maratón de la Costa is Manzanillo's state-backed coastal half marathon, launched in its current form in 2026 by the organizer Ultra Costa Trail together with Colima's state tourism secretariat (Subsectur), under Governor Indira Vizcaíno Silva. The race starts and finishes at "Los Arcos" de Playa Miramar in Manzanillo, Colima, and pairs the 21.1 km half marathon with companion 10 km and 5 km races, run in recreational and competitive categories for men and women, plus age divisions from 18-29 up to 60-plus. The 2026 edition, held Sunday, July 12, drew 720 finishers across all three distances -- more than 300 of them from other Mexican states -- generating an estimated 2.5 million pesos in local tourism spending, and paid cash prizes down to third place in every age category, plus a 1,500-peso incentive for local Manzanillo runners (5+ years' residency) who place first in the half marathon. Manzanillo has hosted half marathons under earlier names and organizers for years, including a municipally run "Medio Maratón Manzanillo," but the "de la Costa" branding and the state-tourism partnership are new as of 2026. Entry for the 2026 edition ran 650-850 pesos depending on distance and registration window (presale through March, general sale through July); pricing for the next edition has not yet been announced, and registration is expected to reopen through Meta Deportiva.
