Medio Maratón de Villahermosa
The Lowdown
The Medio Maraton de Villahermosa is the flagship road race of Festival Villahermosa, the state capital's annual city-anniversary celebration, organized by the municipal government of Centro through the Instituto Municipal de la Juventud y el Deporte de Centro (IMJUDEC) together with Mundo de Atletismo en Mexico A.C. Now heading into its fifth year, the race starts and finishes at Plaza de la Revolucion in front of the Palacio Municipal and follows a flat urban loop along Avenida Ruiz Cortines, the Malecon Leandro Rovirosa Wade, and Paseo Tabasco, with hydration stations every 2 kilometers. Runners choose between the 21.097K half marathon and a 10K option added by popular demand, plus categories for athletes with motor and visual disabilities. The 2026 edition drew a record 2,026 registered runners from across Mexico and abroad and sold out its field within a week, prompting organizers to reopen registration. Entry costs 450 pesos for the half marathon and 300 pesos for the 10K, with online sign-up through the Villahermosa municipal website and in-person registration at the Centro Recreativo de Atasta. The race has run on the fourth Sunday of June for four straight years (2023-2026), so the fifth edition is projected for June 27, 2027, though the official convocatoria had not yet been published at the time of writing.
