The Lowdown

The Nordkirchener Halbmarathon is an annual half marathon hosted by FC Nordkirchen in the Münsterland region of North Rhine-Westphalia. Nicknamed "Über'n Obsen hopsen" (hopping over the Obsen), the race starts and finishes at the FC Nordkirchen stadium inside the historic Schlosspark Nordkirchen, home to the moated Nordkirchen Castle. After two laps of the stadium track, runners head out through the palace park and complete two loops of the flat farmland route through the rural community of Obsen before returning to the stadium for the finish. The field has grown steadily, drawing more than 300 finishers in recent editions. Organized by the athletics division of FC Nordkirchen 1926 e.V., the race is run under German Athletics Federation (DLV) rules and typically opens online registration via raceresult.com several months ahead of race day, with tiered early-bird pricing that rises as the date approaches.
