Portland Shamrock Run

The Portland Shamrock Run is an annual road race weekend held every March in Portland, Oregon, founded in 1979 and now in its 47th year, making it one of the city's longest-running sporting traditions. Currently presented by Toyota under the event name Shamrock Run Fest, the race is anchored by a 13.1-mile half marathon that starts and finishes at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, crossing the Willamette River's historic bridges and winding along Terwilliger Parkway before returning along the waterfront for a mix of city views and gentle hills. Alongside the half marathon, the weekend includes an 8K (whose overall winner takes home their weight in beer), a 5K run, a 5K Walk, and the Leprechaun Lap for children age 10 and under. More than 19,000 runners took part across all distances in 2026. Proceeds have funded more than $850,000 for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital since the race began, and the SheRock program, launched in 2024, directs additional proceeds to Oregon youth-athletics nonprofits. Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub hosts the post-race festivities. The 2027 edition takes place on March 14, 2027, with the half marathon starting at 7:20 AM, and registration is open through tiered Early Access, Current Release, and Final Release pricing.
