Sherry Maratón

The Sherry Maratón is Jerez de la Frontera's annual marathon, held each spring in the sherry-wine heartland of Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain. It is the running centerpiece of the wider JJP Sherry Maratón & Bike festival, which also stages a mountain-bike marathon the day before. The 2027 edition falls on Sunday, April 18, with the 42.195 km marathon starting at 8:00 a.m. from the Alameda Vieja in central Jerez. The route opens with an urban stretch through the historic center before heading into the surrounding vineyards of the Marco de Jerez wine region, passing through seven refreshment stations before finishing back in the city. Two shorter races share the morning: the Sherry Media half marathon (21.0975 km) and the Sherry Promo (14 km), both starting from Macharnudo Castle among the vineyards. The weekend pairs the races with Jerez's sherry-wine tourism, including bodega visits and tastings. Registration is handled online with prices that rise in tiers as the race date approaches, plus optional cancellation insurance. Bib pickup runs from Friday through Sunday morning at IFECA, the Jerez fairgrounds, and the marathon has a finish-line cutoff of 6 hours 30 minutes. The event currently carries backing from title sponsor JJP Hospitalaria, along with the Diputación de Cádiz, the city of Jerez, and the Sherry wine regulatory council.
