Tel Aviv Marathon
The Lowdown
The Tel Aviv Marathon is Israel's largest annual road race, founded in 1981 and relaunched in 2009 after a hiatus. Held every February, the race draws roughly 40,000–50,000 participants across multiple distances and winds through the seafront promenade and main boulevards of Tel Aviv, including sections through a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The course is largely flat and fast — men's and women's course records stand at 2:10:11 and 2:35:20 respectively. Current title sponsor is Bank Leumi (previously Samsung). The event is organised by Kapayim Active under the auspices of the Israeli Athletics Federation and World Athletics, with partners including Adidas, Abbott, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, and the Sourasky Medical Center. A full marathon, half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, handcycle race, and children's mini marathon are on offer, making it an accessible flagship event for runners of all levels.
